“About Love” has a funny history. Years ago, after a misunderstanding with my Honey, I was out on the porch in the dark, two or more sheets to the wind, feeling sorry for myself, and holding my old Yamaha guitar for comfort. I wrote some lines that seemed in the moment to be brilliant. Fortunately I realized that in the morning the would be gone, so I wrote them, all crooked and sketchy, on a scrap of paper from my pocket, and stuffed them through the sound-hole of my guitar. A few months ago, adjusting the guitar’s truss-rod, I discovered that slip of paper and reconstituted the shaky lines into my first drunken barstool song. May it be my last!

At least she took her things, because I couldn’t face the clothes she wore,
And I’ll walk a while before I wander home.

I’ve invented whiskey spectacles,
